We answer within two business days. A wrong date in the chronicle is worth an email too: tell us the event and the year you expected.
Questions
How does a round work?
You see three events without years. Drag the top card toward the event you think is closer to it in time, or tap that event. All three then appear on a true-to-scale line with both distances. A round has five questions.
What is the ribbon?
A timeline from 3500 BC to today split into 29 stretches. Every event you meet becomes a point; answered correctly, it is filled. Stretches with no points stay white. Tap a white spot to play a round built from that period.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-in and nothing to buy.
Does it work offline?
Yes. The 240 built-in events and all rounds work without a connection. Only the daily events from Wikipedia need the internet, and the app keeps the last ones it fetched.
Why are there no wars or politics?
Winstory is about what people achieved. Daily events are filtered to leave out wars, violence, disasters, disputed territories and politics. If something slips through, please tell us.
Can I change the language of the daily events?
Yes: Settings → Event language. The built-in chronicle follows your iPhone's language.
How do I turn notifications on or off?
In iOS Settings → Notifications → Winstory, or from the Notifications row in the app's settings.
How do I delete my data?
Your progress lives only on your iPhone: use Settings → Reset progress, or delete the app. To remove the device identifier from our update logs and from our push provider, email us with the subject "Delete my data".
Troubleshooting
Notifications are not arriving
Check that notifications are allowed for Winstory in iOS Settings and that Focus is not hiding them. Reminders are occasional by design.
My ribbon is empty after reinstalling
Progress is stored only on the device and is not backed up to a server, so deleting the app removes it. That is the price of having no account.
The daily event is not loading
Check the connection, then open Settings → Daily events → Update. If Wikipedia is unreachable, the app shows an event from the built-in chronicle instead.
